There’s a saying that Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
I do agree, as Nothing is more relaxing than a Couple of Budweisers before lunchtime with buddies on Long Island beach.
Sometimes it is not enough to blink with several beers such as Budlight, Heineken, Corona, or Miller High Life.
Yes, perhaps we might feel refreshed, but sometimes we need more potent brew that can pull off a unique drinking experience.
There is a special category of craft beers with an extremely high volume of alcohol content.
Most of these ultra-strong beers were made to break world records in mind. Naturally, there is a handful that tastes great.
Here are the top 10 strongest beers in the world by alcohol content:
10. Samuel Adams – Utopias
Samuel Adams recently released a new beer that is 28% ABV (alcohol by volume), making it so potent that it is illegal in 15 states.
As head brewer Chris Siegman puts, it’s a beer you’re supposed to deal with “like a fine cognac.”
Samuel Adams Utopias is no typical beer you drink.
The brewery only produced 77 wooden barrels this year, and a single bottle has a retail price of $210.
The cost is because it takes several years for the brewery to brew and requires intensive work.
Among the three Samuel Adams breweries in Boston, Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, and Cincinnati, the beer is blended, aged, and finished in barrel rooms.
Taste: Utopias is on the sweeter side, having a similar buttery taste of that a dessert wine.
The aromas of spicy pear and peach are excellent with a brandy doused with cognac and subtle bourbon flavors with a touch of oak and hints of vanilla.
Orange zest and wine flavors pop up in the back with fine touches of apricot and faint notes of the herbal hop.
9. Struise Black Damnation VI Series
The Black Damnation series constitutes a dark twist in the mind of Urbain that has never before been acknowledged or ever seen by either in Belgium or the world.
This ale still is and should be drunk like a real beer having carbonation and a pleasant rocky head.
For you whiskey for any enthusiasts out there, the Imperial Stout is almost black in pitch, with grandiose notes of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, and even peat.
Taste: The drink is oily black color with a no to the long-lasting small dark beige head, and the alcohol seems like 15%, not 39%.
The notes are heavy on roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, smoke, and peat from the barrel.
While once can taste exotic flavors of roasted malts and coffee, with notes of chocolate and caramel.
The influence of the barrel is present with smoked and peaty flavors.
Although the flavors are marvelous, its strong boozy taste of pure ethanol sometimes overpowers the flavors.
Its texture is super thick, creamy, sticky with medium-low carbonation.
8. Baladin –
Esprit De Nöel
This chocolate beer is a rare jewel on our list, from the style nation – Italy! The beer has 40% ABV and is a strong-grade liquor.
The brewery called Baladin brews this beer.
A beer distilled in 2011, aged in barrels of oak until its spirit is perfectly in keeping with its aroma.
Taste: Esprit De Nöel is a little treat for passionate drinkers who love flavor and elegance.
Spirit de Noel is lightly yellow best served when chilled between 10 and 12 degrees. The taste reinforces its smoothness and strengthens its gentle, faint notes of wood and chocolate.
7. Sink the Bismarck
Sink the Bismarck beer is made and sold by BrewDog, a brewery based in Scotland, and was launched for the first time in 2011.
Sink the Bismarck is a quadruple IPA containing four times the hops, four times the bitterness and frozen four times to create at a staggering 41% ABV.
The style of craft beer resistance, with the volume, cranked off, is IPA amplified.
BrewDog layers Bismarck with hops in three brewing stages; Kettle hopped, dry-hopped, and freeze hopped.
Taste: It has a spicy punch so you can drink a small sip of this beer and taste the exceptional taste and flavor.
It’s like a full attack on your taste buds.
This smooth beer has a crescendo of malt, sweet honey, hop oil, and a long-lasting torpedo of hop bitterness.
6. Schorschbrau Schorschbock 43
Schorschbräu has many of the strongest beers in the world, and SchorschBock 43% is the second strongest (57 version is the strongest).
The Germans regained their position as the creator of the world’s strongest beer after the launch of the Schorschbock 43 in 2010.
But this Eisbock (ice strong beer) only turned out to be a ruthless blend of extreme fruitiness and spiciness.
Its flat chestnut brown with a tiny tan head, a rich aroma full of fine brandish, leather, and tobacco with added raisin and walnut back flavors.
Taste: There is a sweetness on the tongue, which shows the same finely crafted strikingly lifted by an unbelievable alcohol burn that stays on your tongue with incredible longevity, making it a drinkable beer!
Sweet caramel and dark dried fruits, smokiness which reminds you of a unique aged port wine.
43 has a vinous and syrupy texture with mild flavors of lots of dark dried sweet fruits, burnt alcohol.
5. Koelschip Obilix
Koelschip is a Netherlands-based brewery that knows what they do in the production of strong beers.
In March 2010, the brewery published the news with Obilix, a beer of 45 percent alcohol content.
The British brewery Brewdog, with 55 percent alcohol content, came on the market that same year with ‘The End of History.’
Taste: It has a smell of complex fruits (candied figs and apples) with a lot of sweetness with additional notes of blackstrap molasses
It seriously tastes like a Cough syrup (is this even a real beer?).
4. BrewDog – The End Of History
By sending them a bottle of the world’s strongest beer wrapped inside taxidermy roadkill, Scottish beer-makers BrewDog acknowledged the fans for contributing £19 million.
A 55% ABV Belgian Blonde Ale infused with Scottish nettles and juniper berries is named as the end of history.
The super-strong beer was first brewed in 2010, with only 12 bottles produced.
In 2010 the over-the-top beverage sparked several debates when Scotland’s BrewDog unveiled its intentionally bizarre design of The End of History. At that time, the beverage was considered “the most strong and most expensive beer in the world.”
The End of History Beer ($650-$900) is a limited-edition beer (it could be already sold out).
Taste: The taste is too intense.
55% Belgian alcohol blond ale, brewed using insane freezing techniques with hints of juniper berries, mead, and nettles
The methodology to drink this beer is similar to that of a scotch whiskey or a bourbon you should enjoy, sip-by-sip.
3. Koelschip – Start the Future
After the success of Obilix, Koelschip, a brewery in the Netherlands, created one of the world’s strongest beers.
The beer was made every month after the release of the 55% ABV The End of History by BrewDog.
Koelschip’s Start the Future Beer is supposed to taste like pure alcohol than actual beer, so take a while, and drink it slowly.
START THE FUTURE is just like the OBILX, which contains heavy alcoholic drink ingredients such as water, malt, hops, and yeast.
Taste: At this point, it’s a whiskey.
A highland scotch no carbonation almost a weird edge leaving a sweetish burning sensation in the mouth.
2. Brewmeister Armageddon
A Scottish brewery claims it has produced the world’s second strongest beer, Brewmeister’s Armageddon.
This Armageddon beer has an ABV of no less than 65° proof, created by Scottish Brewmeister!
The mash undergoes a process known as freeze fermenting, it is the Eisbock technic that is naturally employed.
The beer is kept at a pretty low temperature, so that water can be removed from it when ice forms resulting in alcohol below ice formations.
It results as a strong beer, which is only made from traditional raw materials.
This Scottish beer is filled with amber color with an almost non-existent head that, given its ABV, appears to be logical.
Taste: It has a nice color, but nothing but the look department gets any points.
The nose is strong, with alcohol, but also herbaceous notes, caramel hints, and hops. In the mouth, you can taste the malt first before the beer releases up a spicy and woody essence.
Alcohol, finally, gives a pretty good balance to the whole.
Its many features are similar to the Tactical Nuclear Penguin, a strong beer that is well-known among connoisseurs.
1. Brewmeister Snake Venom
Snake Venom is another potent beer Scottish brewery, Brewmeister, that clocks in at a stomach-burning 67% ABV.
Brewmeister Snake Venom is currently recognized as the strongest beer in the World by alcohol content.
To give you an idea about its strength, most liquors, such as vodka and whiskey, have an ABV of approximately 40%.
Another distinct feature of this English barley beer is too alcoholic to be carbonated, compared with any other beer on the planet.
Snake Venom is not yet available for sale in the US, but if you live in the U.K, or planning for a visit, a single bottle costs around $76.
You can’t drink it like a regular beer: the brewery recommends that you drink 35 ml shots.
We can also find a certain amount of peaty malt in the recipe, made with yeasts used for making beer and champagne.
Venom is then frozen to remove water crystals following the Eisbock technique to increase the beer’s ABV.
The result is a potent, viscous, highly flavored beer, which in terms of consumption, should be treated as a spirit.
The liquid is too dense to hold carbon dioxide bubbles, that’s why there is no carbonation.
Taste: It is made with two varieties of yeast, one beer and one champagne in Moray from smoked peated malt.
Alcohol is hard, but it still tastes like a beer instead of a spirit. It has a wonderfully pleasant, hoppy, and malty flavor.
Beer is a symbol of social connection. For casual meetup or watching baseball or football, beer is the best choice to hang out with your buddies on the weekend.
This strong beer concept is totally unreasonable, people never drink beer to get intoxicated.
There are many other drinks like whiskey, vodka, gins, etc out there to get you drunk.
wow, i thought i was go see a 12% guinness
