Luu Cong Huyen is a Vietnamese man who has been growing his fingernails for over 40 years. He is from Yen Giao, in Vietnam’s Nam Dinh province. His long fingernails have attracted media attention in recent years, with some sources reporting that he has not cut his nails in over 35 years. Luu Cong Huyen’s nails have grown to be over 3 feet long.
While Luu Cong Huyen’s long fingernails have gained him attention, they have also caused him some difficulties. In 2021, he had trouble getting his fingerprints scanned for a new ID card due to the length of his nails. Despite the many difficulties from keeping long fingernails, Mr Huyền is still working as a construction worker and has been the breadwinner of the family for many years. According to his wife, he’s also well-versed in creative arts and passionate about drawing.

Louise Hollis is a woman from the United States who has grown her toenails to exceedingly great lengths since 1982. Her toenails have been measured and recorded by Guinness World Records. Louise Hollis’ long toenails have gained her attention, with some sources sharing videos and images of her nails.

A 40-year-old man in Hainan Province has spent half of his life maintaining his extremely long finger nails. The man, surnamed Mai, from Tunchang county, has grown the fingernails of his left hand for 21 years. Although he is very careful in his daily life, his fingernails, sometimes, can be easily broken.

Loretta Adams is known for having grown her nails to an extraordinary length. Her nails were measured at a total length of almost 4 meters, or 3.81 meters to be exact. But the girl did not last long and quickly cut off a record manicure.
Chris Walton
Chris Walton, also known as “The Duchess,” held the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails in 2011. She is from Las Vegas, USA, and had not cut her nails in 18 years at the time of the record, resulting in fingernails that totaled nearly 20 feet in length. The nails on her left hand measured a total of 10 feet 2 inches, while the nails on her right hand measured a total of 9 feet 7 inches.
Melvin Boothe
Melvin Boothe (USA) held the record for the longest fingernails on a pair of male hands. His nails had a combined length of 9.85 m (32 ft 3.8 in) when measured in Troy, Michigan, USA on 30 May 2009. Melvin started growing his nails in the 1970s and was aged 61 when he was awarded his Guinness World Records title.
Lee Redmond
Lee Redmond is an American woman who held the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails on both hands (female) from 2008 to 2022. At their peak length in 2008, her nails measured a combined total of 28 feet and 4 inches, with the longest nail being the talon on her right thumb, which was 2 feet and 11 inches long. Lee Redmond had not cut her nails since 1979 and had been growing them for over 30 years. Sadly, Lee Redmond lost her nails in a car accident in 2009. She has since kept the fragments of her nails with her but has not grown them back to their previous length.
Ayanna Williams
Ayanna Williams is an American woman who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails ever reached on a single hand for a woman, with a combined length of 576.4 centimeters (181.09 inches). She grew her nails for over 28 years without cutting them, and she engaged in nail art during her young age as a kid. Although proud of her record-breaking nails, Ayanna faced increasing difficulties due to the weight of her fingernails, which made it difficult for her to engage in day-to-day activities. In 2021, Ayanna Williams cut off her nails after growing them for over 25 years and reaching a length of 24 feet 0.7 inches, according to Guinness. She no longer has to take days to manicure her nails and expressed excitement for new opportunities. Ayanna Williams is also ranked second in the list of having the longest fingernails in the world considering both genders, just behind India’s Shridhar Chillal who had a combined length of 1000.6 centimeters (358.1 inches).
Diana Armstrong
Diana Armstrong is a woman from Minnesota, USA, who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female). Her nails collectively measure a remarkable 42 feet and 10.4 inches (approximately 13 meters). Diana Armstrong has not trimmed her nails since 1997. She took over the record from Ayanna Williams, who cut off her long nails in 2021. It is worth noting that Diana Armstrong has stated that she has no intention of trimming her nails, as there is a sentimental reason behind their length. She revealed that she has not cut her nails since her 16-year-old daughter, Latisha, passed away from an asthma attack in 1997. Armstrong’s grandchildren now act as her manicurists.
Shridhar Chillal
Shridhar Chillal is an Indian man who held the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails ever reached on a single hand. He began growing his nails in 1952 after an incident where a teacher scolded him for accidentally breaking the teacher’s long nail. Chillal took it as a challenge and grew his nails for over 66 years without cutting them. His longest nail was his thumbnail, measuring 197.8 centimeters (77.87 inches). Chillal’s long nails caused him increasing difficulties, including disfigurement of his fingers and loss of function in his left hand. He claimed that the immense weight of his nails caused nerve damage in his left arm and even resulted in deafness in his left ear. Despite the challenges, Chillal appeared in films and television, showcasing his nails, including an appearance in “Jackass 2.5”. On July 11, 2018, Chillal finally had his fingernails cut with a power tool at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum in New York City. The nails were then put on display at the museum. The combined length of Chillal’s nails was recorded at 909.6 centimeters (358.1 inches).
