Top 10 Scariest Ghost Movies Ever

top 10 scariest ghost movies

I’m a regular horror film fan. I’ve seen all the stupidest supernatural thriller movies ever made, even those so-called scariest movies of all time.
I used to watch them test my courage; Unfortunately, none of those flicks ever frightened me.
Nowadays, horror films are complete jokes.
Relying on jump scares to distract you from the lack of quality storytelling, shallow acting, and dialogue so bad you’d think it was a high school goer composing a fan-fiction for English class.
If you are planning to watch some new supernatural horror this weekend and are willing to explore beyond Hollywood,
Here are the top 10 best ghost movies of all time:

10. Conjuring 2 (2016)

best ghost movies

Scare intensity-5/10
Quality of movie-6.5/10

Conjuring 2 is an old school horror based on a real-life incident.
The plot goes like,
A single mother with distressed children, poor, no dad, helpless, and downright depressing lives in Enfield London, witnesses the presence of an evil spirit in their house.
So they contact paranormal investigators couple Ed and Lorraine Warren to help them.
Later it is revealed that the spirit of the old man is manipulated by a demon that is more powerful and wants something more sinister from Lorraine.
The same demonic entity in Conjuring-2 has appeared in a prequel movie from the franchise released recently as The Nun (2018) but, the level of scariness Conjuring-2 as a haunted house movie offers is far superior.
Director James Wan brings here a masterpiece, which surely deserves a spot on our list.

9. A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)-Korean movie

Scariest ghost movies

Scare intensity-6.5/10
Quality of movie-6.5/10

A tale of two sisters is loosely based on a well-known Korean ghost story.

What did I love about this film?
Unlike Hollywood horror is it’s the use of mind-fucks and delightful symbolism with flawless planning and imagery.
There is no doubt this is a good film and an example of what the Korean horror genre can do.
The starting passes an impression of a slow and simple movie, which gives you a chance to think about what will happen and when it will occur.
At some point, this inclination sort of vanish as time passes by, and you get interested in the story.
After some time, it reaches half of the film and very little of the story-line explanation, leaving you curious because of its strange narrative.
The climax arrives, and you stay involved, needing to know increasingly more of Sumi and Suyeon’s (both sisters) history.
All these narration results in a very well-balanced plot without overusing horror movie methods such as jump scares or splatter.
This direction builds up the movie in a perfect joint with the bold dialogues of Sumi’s character and personality changes according to whom she’s interacting with, resulting in good chemistry that leaves you questioned until the last minute.

8. Poltergeist trilogy (1982,1986,1988)

Top 10 Ghost movies

Scare intensity-5/10
Quality of movie-7.5/10

What can you say about the film series that itself is cursed while filming.
Known as the Poltergeist Curse is a scourge that is linked to this horror film series Poltergeist.
In many variants of the urban legend, all the cast members passed, while others claim three real-life deaths because of the curse.
In reality, just four of the actors died, two passed on startlingly, while the other two died because of natural reasons.
There are reports that unusual events occurred during the shooting of the three movies. It is unclear that the curse is true or coincidence.
Speaking about the plot, a Poltergeist in folklore is about the spirits of dead people believed responsible for unexplained noises and movement of objects within a home.
In all three film series, each recounts an episode in the lives of the Freelings, and horrific events they encounter with the supernatural.
No doubt even today in 2020, this old horror classic has to be included on the 8th spot in our paranormal movies list because considering past standards, it was ahead of its time.

7. Tumbbad (2018)-Indian movie

top 10 scariest movies of all time

Scare intensity-7/10
Quality of movie-9/10

This movie has the most original story I’ve seen for quite a while, not particularly horror genre but more like a psychological thriller.
Writers set the movie during the latter part of British India, and the period setting adds a visual aspect of validness to the story.
The story goes like,
A catastrophe affects a young boy named Vinayak, his life-threatening encounter with a cursed cannibal old lady (his house imprisoned grandmother) who knows the way to get buried treasure sets him on the path of greed.
He tries to investigate the local legend of a god-turned-demon named Hastar and his gold medallions but stopped by his mother by swearing.
Now grown-up Vinayak (after his mother passes) becomes obsessed with uncovering the treasure.
Gradually, his obsession turns him into a cold-blooded opportunist.
Why I loved this movie?
Some moments in the film are grotesque, but you cannot miss the details they have captured meticulously.
The scenes on the screen are remarkably very impressive.
From the fascinating rain-soaked outdoors to the old ancestral home that hides over one disturbing mystery, screening shots are like an artistic masterpiece.
Kudos to the Director and creative team for making this movie, which I think is the finest and scariest horror movie of all time in Bollywood (Indian film industry).
Various scenes in the film’s latter half unfold in a live womb (yes) of earth, and these portions are especially impressive for the sheer creative mind and imagination on display.
The ending will leave you in a state of sadness & dejection with a lesson on greed.

6. The Blair Witch Project (1999)

English horror movies

Scare intensity-7.5/10
Quality of movie-7/10

October 1994, three film making students disappear in the forested areas close Burkittsville, Maryland, while shooting a documentary.
One year later, someone finds their recording.
The latter half of 79 minutes of the Blair Witch Project is “removed” from that recording, all of which is shot by them with handheld camcorders and a 16 mm camera.
The clips go like, after talking to a few people of local people about the Blair Witch, they go into the nearby woods to get a film of areas related to the story (The story includes a witch who steals and executes the two kids and grown-ups).
They get lost, and every night horrendous things occur. Sludge showing up on their camp.
At that point, Josh vanishes, and a heap of twigs is “delivered,” which contains what they believe to be parts of his body.
Finally, the two surviving filmmakers stumble (at night) upon a lonely, rundown house from which exhales groaning and shouting. They rush to explore the uncertain sounds.
Then, the camera falls to the ground and the credit roll.
While watching the movie, you will be in a continuous state of anxiety and fear with heavy heart beating moments between the scenes.
This movie had set a new standard for camcorder psychological horror movies, which inspired other classics like the Paranormal Activity series (2007-present).
But still, it is one of the scariest ghost movies by diminishing the concept of compulsively including a scary-faced demon or spirit.

5. The Exorcist (1973)

horror scary movies

Scare intensity-6.5/10
Quality of movie-9.5/10

Instead, to reveal the story, I’ll go with the execution of the direction and play of this film.
You have to see the Exorcist several times to understand the personas, get all the dialogue between them, and value the art and attention to the direction.
The more you see this movie, the frightening it gets, because the more you watch, the more you can comprehend what’s happening.
The movie stands up well to this day in 2020 because the director created and maintained an atmosphere of dreamy bitterness even in the quiet scenes, filled by scenes of extraordinary mental frightfulness and an absolute killer sound background that remains unsurpassed to this day.
Scenes never truly resolve or end as you expect that they should.
No wonder, this academy awards winning classic still manages to scare us and served as a benchmark among the Hollywood horror movies that were released after it.

4. Ring (1998)-Japanese movie

paranormal movies

Scare intensity-5/10
Quality of movie-7/10

Before you say anything, let me be clear.
Here, we are not making a comparison between Western and Japanese ghosts.
Comparing with its Hollywood remake movie the Ring, I don’t think the original Japanese horror version is that terrifying.
Yet, it builds a genuinely good sense of fear and is very deep in its storytelling.
As a cinematic entity, ‘The Ghost’ in the Western cinema has changed for years from its Asian counterparts in the way filmmakers choose to scare you.
Ghosts in Western films pop out at you, creating a gotcha moment, which is scary (for 2 seconds).
In days before this fashion, ghosts were unaware, shy to show themselves, and it was more like tension built up through the story.
Filmmakers ditched this method in favor of scary CGI faced, ass-kicking ghosts.
Speaking about the story goes it goes like:
Journalist Reiko’s niece is discovered dead alongside three friends after viewing a supposedly cursed videotape, and she decides to investigate.
Alongside her ex, Ryuji, Reiko finds the tape, watches it, and gets a telephone call advising her she’ll die in seven days.
Determined to understand the curse, Reiko and Ryuji find the video’s history and try to resolve an old murder that could break the spell.

3. The Witch (2015)

top horror movies

Scare intensity-8/10
Quality of movie-9.5/10

Earning the third spot in our best ghost movies list, The Witch is one of that movie-going fantasy horror experience which you will love.
Rather than relying on jump scares, too chiller graphics, or the shabby adrenaline rush, this film is like being on a roller coaster.
Director Eggers, in his remarkable debut, picked up the movie-watchers and transported them to 1630s New England.
The Witch takes as much time as is needed to mix the suspense and, expanding the demonic warmth until just in the last minutes, you understand how scary things will turn.
There are disturbing, even horrifying scenes early on, but they don’t surprise you so much as they build up a constant tension.
The story starts itself into your mind with a first, the unknown fear of something unseen.
It sends shivers down your spine with its harsh air of anticipation and sense of a puzzle that puts forward questions you’re not sure you want the answer.
I highly suggest you watch this if you are searching for realistic yet one of the scariest ghost movies in modern cinema.

2. Exorcism of Emily Rose (2015)

best ghost movies of all time

Scare intensity-6/10
Quality of movie-9.5/10

It’s often said, “theaters and digital screens act as a wall to differentiate between the real world and movie world.”
But when you see something on the screen that strongly resonates with what we know to be real-world, various thoughts, experiences, and emotions bubble up in your mind.
Especially if it’s horror, things don’t go very well for you. This movie is about a cleric who stands for trial for the murder of a 22-year-old young girl he performed an exorcism, because of which she died.
She is from a decent Catholic family, yet encounters satanic possession in college and struggles against the evil forces within her.
An agnostic lawyer goes to the support of the priest, while the government prosecutor calls an outreaching Methodist to accuse.
The interrogation comes down to whether Emily Rose had medicinal issues or if her indications of paranoia, seizures, muscle, and joint hardening, shouting, brutality, and inability to eat have no explanation on the physical, “scientific” level.
The story derives from a real-life trial that happened in the 1970s Bavaria with a girl named Anneliese Michel. The real story is grayer than the film.
Why it is a must see?
The movie storyline is grasping; It triggers consideration of the partial separation between religion and science.
Is demonic possession real? Does science answer? Does God exist?
The closest encounter we often have with ghosts (if real or not) is through a possessed person.
You might have heard stories of possession, and if you wish you could have seen a real ghost, this movie could be the nearest answer.
This is one of the most accurate, true-to-life supernatural yet one of the scariest ghost movies you could see.

Honourable mentions,

Before jumping top our top spot, Ill list some honorable mentions which we couldn’t include in our Top 10 ghost films of all time countdown but are worth watching.

1. Hereditary (2018)

Horror film

Scare intensity-10/10
Quality of movie-9.5/10

Hereditary is a movie that pushes the limits of what frightfulness is.
Its story is about a dysfunctional family dealing with the death of a member and lets the audience watch these individuals gradually crumble as grief overtakes them.
If you are going into this movie, expecting that it should be a typical horror movie, you will be woefully baffled.
The movie gets your attention right from the opening shot; I loved how the camera focused on the unpleasant miniature house.
The jump scares in this film will shake you since they are not your ordinary jump scares.
Which is normally a sudden silence followed by a dramatic noise and a ghost popping up out of the blue?
The director’s sense of priority cautiously delivers plausibly the best terror traps: the wide-angle shots, a dash of the paranoia, and simple yet effective sound effects.
It infiltrates each scene, and the audience isn’t permitted to relax at all. The last 15 to 20 minutes of the film gets serious (very serious).
And yes! Also, continued crashing with your psyche may trigger the PTSD you got from this film.
This movie never made into box office hits but surely is on the way to becoming one classic like The Exorcist & will shine in Hollywood history as top 10 horror movies of all time.
Make sure you are in a good state of mind and health before watching this movie.

He had not released a solo record since 2018 (Everything is Love by Beyoncé).
But his businesses earned him enough wealth to rank in last year’s richest musician in the world.
Also, he is married to Beyoncé, not a big loss, even if we don’t include his assets, $1 billion.
Jay Z and Beyoncé both combined are now worth 1.4 billion dollars.

You might notice that all these Forbes list rappers started out in the 90s, so was the introduction of hip-hop in the mainstream.
Current generation hip-hop might have shifted a little materialistic side, according to many fans

Top 10 Stock Market Movies

Stock Market Movies

There has always been a fair amount of drama on the stock market.
Whether it’s crazy periods of volatility that have captured the markets over the past year, or new and exciting companies getting ready to go public, there’s almost always something to get excited about.
Learn, be amazed and also disgusted at the behavior of the sharks and the money-hungry.
I guarantee that most of these true stories will teach you something new and that as a Hollywood movie will also entertain you.
These are the top 10 best stock market movies of all time:

10. Too Big to Fail (2011)

movie about stock market crash

What you’ll learn-How mortgage-backed securities defaults spread the crisis across the globe from Wall Street.
It also portrays the incompetent mechanics and policies implemented by the U.S. Federal Reserve tries to stabilize the financial markets.

Henry Paulson, Treasury Secretary, after leaving his top job at Goldman Sachs, is trying to address the issues during the global economic meltdown.
The film is written and released in 2011 by Andrew Ross Sorkin, who has also written ongoing TV series Billions (also a must-watch to learn about hedge funds & insider trading) and is directed by Curtis Hanson.
It’s about how big and interconnected some companies are, especially financial institutions.
It showcases that if they collapse, it would be catastrophic for the bigger economic system.
And also explains the few clips about the crisis in the mortgage industry.

9. Trading Places (1983)

best finance movies

What you’ll learn– The movie shows trading’s ups and downs in a comedy genre giving America’s socio-economic basics and class structure.
The film also depicts a lot of stereotypical money beliefs.
Personally speaking, this is among the best trading movies which show basic emotions that go behind the volatility of a commodity.
Tough its 2019, but the emotions that go behind booms & dooms are the same.

Because of a bet, two callous millionaire brothers conspire to swap a snobbish investor’s and a wily street con artist’s fortunes.
This modern-day twist on ‘The Prince and Pauper’ stars Eddie Murphy as a street-wise con-artist who gets manipulated into becoming the manager of a commodities trading company while inadvertently replacing his successor, a blue-blooded executive (Dan Aykroyd).
While actual trading takes a backseat to the characters transitioning into their new circumstances, the final 15 minutes of the film have a very accurate depiction of a frenzied trading session in the pits of orange juice futures trading.

8. Barbarians at the Gate (1993)

best stock market movies

What you’ll learn– Barbarians at the gate is inspired by a real-life event, movie viewers will be surprised and entertained by Nabisco’s CEO F. Ross Johnson’s failure and greed, as well as the background negotiations and skullduggery around this popular LBO.

A true story about R.J.R. Nabisco’s leveraged buy-out.
This conglomerate is to be taken over by a vicious war.
CEO Ross Johnson wants to kill by purchasing the undervalued company from investors, but the Wall Street investment professionals he recruits are becoming his buyout competition.
At its worst, it’s a “Greed is Good” grab for money.
This classic shows how Wall Street firms thrive on the inside of these mega-merger and acquisition deals.
Best finance movie on corporate insights if you are a Growth Investor.

7. Margin Call (2011)

movie about stock market crash

What you’ll learn– Margin Call does little to hide the disdain for some of the largest banks’ reckless risk-taking in the run-up to the financial crisis of 2008, such as the sale in complex derivative instruments that they barely understood.
It also reminds the importance of risk management.

The day before the 2008 market crash, the head of the management division of a financial company working on a major analysis is fired.
His protege is trying to complete the analysis and find out the real reason for their financial downturn.
Then the characters are forced to take drastic action to reduce their losses.
This is a real roller coaster ride you don’t want to miss, filmed in a 24-hour time window of chaos during the 2008 financial crisis.
If you’re interested in what happened during the crisis inside financial firms, this might be the movie about stock market crash for you.

6. Glengarry Glen Ross (2011)

What you’ll learn– The stock market movie shows the greed and underhanded tactics to which advisory positions can be subjected, and the pressure their managers place on salespeople. (A wake-up call if you buy stocks based on reckless recommendations by your advisory or brokerage.)

When a New York City real estate sales office is given the news that at the end of the week, all except the top 2 will be fired, the office atmosphere heats.
This infinitely quotable movie, an acclaimed big-screen adaptation of a David Mamet play, focuses on a team of downtrodden real estate salesmen whose morals have now been completely eroded after years of working for their unscrupulous company.
Shelley Levene (Jack Lemmon), who’s got a sick daughter, tries what he can get better leads from his boss, John Williamson (Kevin Spacey), but in no way.
While his coworker Dave Moss (Ed Harris) comes up with a plan to snatch the leads, for the tough-talking salesmen things get complicated.

5. Boiler Room (2000)

wall street movies

What you’ll learn– Focused on the lowest of the operators of the Pump and Dump scheme, this film is excellent and gives an insight into the operations that are still around today.
Boiler Room serves as a warning to those starting to invest in the stock market, to adhere to transparent, solid companies based on sound fundamentals.

A college dropout earns a position as an investment firm broker that takes it to a successful career.
Yet success clouds its judgment and pulls it into a vortex of greed and selfishness.
This is among the must-watch movies about the stock market, for those who want to know how the illusion of enormous wealth can poison minds and how it can corrupt and devastate investors.

4. Rogue Trader (1999)

stock market movies

What you’ll learn– The wall street movie shows you that there was (and still is) no transparency and risk management in the top banks or in the rest of banks.
An overview of a trader’s mind and why we need good oversight and safeguards because every person’s mindset can be ruinous.

This film is based on a true story of Nick Leeson, a derivatives broker, who caused the bankruptcy of the 233-year-old Barings Bank in England, the second-oldest trading bank in the world in 1995.
A rising star on the trading floor of Singapore, Leesons blow up as quickly as he progressed, covering massive losses in carefully hidden accounts from his bosses and eventually leading the mother of all unsuccessful trading on the Nikkei, which leads to a major sigma move in the end.
He’s in his head somewhat sooner and tries to hide the losses.
His only option is to flee the country with Lisa (Anna Friel), his beautiful wife, but Leeson has to eventually face his own consequences.

3. The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

movies about stock market

What you’ll learn– Like Barbarian’s pump and dump, The Wolf of Wall Street is created around the notorious Stratton Oakmont firm and a pump and dumping system that helped IPO so many large public companies in the late 80s and 90s, based on real-life events (with an unrealistic yet true-life based drama and a touch of Caprio’s best performance).

Jordan Belfort has become part of the fast lane and as a junior broker, loses his job on Black Monday (1987 Market crash).
With Donnie Azoff, he teams up and steals on the way up as his ties go, ultimately starting his own brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont.
This 3-hour-movie, in my opinion, is the most entertaining and funny movie in Hollywood, if not on our list.
It will not satisfy you watching just once.

2. The Big Short (2015)

What you’ll learn– Its the best movie to learn about the stock market.
As it shows, the shortcomings of investment banks and companies to even recognize the products they wonderfully develop and make a profit.

A few financial professionals note in the mid-2000s the uncertainty and expect the crash of the US housing market.
They find faults and corruption in the system through their research.
This film combines goofy comedy and a financial crisis in which 8 million people become unemployed.

1. Wall Street (1987)

best stock market movies

What you’ll learn– The movie alerts us of the dangers of insider trading and market manipulation.
Basically, a must-watch finance movie for beginners.

Bud, a junior stockbroker, is interested in working with his idol Gordon Gekko and tries to impress him by spying on renowned companies.
Ultimately, the stockbroker (Charlie Sheen) develops a deep respect for Gekko (Douglas), by providing insider information, attract him to corporate raiding.
Unfortunately, the scheme in which Bud unknowingly endangers his dad’s (Martin Sheen) ability to make an honorable living.
After learning Gekko’s evil antics manipulated him, Bud attempts to destroy him in which he gains success.
In 2010 a sequel was released to reawaken the role of Michael Douglas’, Gordon Gekko, “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.”
The popular phrase “greed is good” was offered to us by Gekko in the first movie.

These films are important to any potential financial expert.
Although if you don’t have a career in the field, these films can give you a sense of the wild and sometimes crazy financial world.
The above movies are readily available on Netflix.
Please share this post on social media if you too, want to create financial awareness among your friends.

In contrast to all the music performances, you should know a few basic elements.

Top 10 Suspense Thriller Movies of Hollywood

Of course, we can say that everyone doesn’t enjoy watching a movie.
But there are limited options, considering Hollywood’s twisted psychological thriller suspense movies.
The feeling that you are left with fantastic suspense is different from any other experience.
It’s pulse-pumping and constant and makes you feel alive. And it’s good to feel alive.
If you are wondering or bored on this weekend to watch something interesting.
Below is the list for my personal favorite 10 best suspense movie of all time:

10. Strangers on a Train (1951)

The story starts with Walker and Granger meeting on a train from New York to Washington.
Bruno Anthony, a young functional psychopath, encounters Guy Haines on a train, a famous tennis player.
Guy wants to move into a political career. While waiting for a divorce of his wife and has been dating the daughter of a senator (Ann Morton).
Bruno wants to murder his father but realizes that because he has a purpose, cops will arrest him.
He and Guy share victims, Bruno thinks of a crazy scheme to exchange victims.
This is a joke Guy takes, but Bruno takes things seriously and puts things into his own hands.
My review
The plot is very well written and Robert Walker is portrayed with flying colors as a sly, but a noticeable psychopath.
The role is full of delicate undertones and is beautifully performed by Walker.
Farley Granger’s performance as good as he has taken on demonic murdering schemes with his new train-mate
The charm of Ruth Roman brings elegance to the companionship of Granger-loving women.

9. Shutter Island (2010)

The story follows as two American marshals are sent to an asylum on an island to investigate a patient’s death, which after uncovering they find disturbing mysteries.
Teddy Daniels (Leonardo) interviews patients, staff and head psychiatrist (Ben Kingsley), joined by his new partner (Ruffalo).
The situation soon begins to turn strange. The investigation stuck with a police character himself who falls further into delusional fear.
He is yet to overcome horrific hallucinations of the death of Michelle Williams, his beloved wife, and of the escape from the concentration camp at Dachau at the end of World War II.
The suspicious disappearance of a killer from her prison has indeed been intended to be investigated by Daniels, but also by Andrew Laeddis (Elias Koteas), an imprisoned arsonist that he feels is responsible for his wife’s death (Michelle Phillips).
Daniels suspects in the unethical experiments and a conspiracy to hide the fate of Laeddis, which senior psychologists Cawley (Ben-Kingsley) and Naehring (Max von Sydow) have performed on this island.
My review
The crime story turned into his own as the detective character had a conflicting turnaround.
A result of very gross WWII encounters during the liberation of a concentration camp, and a mismarriage that ended on the shores of what looked like Crystal Lake in Friday the 13th movie–and drugs induced hallucinations.
The main effect of the suspense thriller movie is on the senses. All is mixed into a terrifying foreshadow of awful secrets.
Each scene turns against its succeeding scene and twists characters in such ways, like their minds, that we could not grasp.

8. Gone Girl (2014)

Bar owner Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) has his home theatrically damaged on the day of his Fifth Wedding Anniversary, his front door opens.
The glass table overturned and shattered and his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) unaccountably missing.
As Rhonda Boney (Kim Dickens) appears at the location, she feels that not everything has been right.
Proof of financial problems or domestic disputes points the finger toward Nick in doubt, who in the age of social media and rolling television considers uncertain displays of grievance insufficient.
Over the next few days Nick’s “smiling sociopath” has been refocused more than his gone girl-wife, whose own voice is heard on the pages of a blasphemous diary showing an alternate interpretation of their apparently idyllic couple.
My review
This movie is directed by David Fincher (who also made many psychological thrillers) & is based on novel Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
Direction, Screenplay, backgrounds, environment, and acting are just great.
The whole cast is in top form with the flawless quality of Affleck and Pike.
Speaking about plot, it is intense, strong, creative and mind-bending, with an incredible twist.

7. Prisoners (2013)

How far will you protect your family?
Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) faces the same question after the worst fear of every parent becomes the reality.
His 6-year-old daughter, Anna, together with her young friend, Joy, is lost, which naturally, like any parent, makes him panic.
The only lead investigators have is a rundown RV, parked on its road earlier.
Detective Loki, the investigator, arrests his driver, Alex Jones, but he is bailed because of a lack of evidence.
When police arrest several drivers with no solid evidence, scared Dover takes matters into his own hands, realizing that his child’s life is at stake.
But how far is that despairing father going to safeguard his family?
My review
In the same psychologic structure, prisoners is an intelligently constructed and well-performed mystery that executes events that converge with time— to save the girls and prove Alex’s guilt and innocence.
On the bottom, all of the unexpected but mildly sensible twists and turns happen, and anyone familiar with the genre can smell a red herring.

6. L.A. Confidential (1997)

The seedy backdrop to the nuanced noir-ish plot of corruption of the police and Hollywood Sleaze was in Los Angeles in the 1950s.
The officers, who all follow the truth and are in their own fashion, are three very different: Ed Exley the golden boy of police force, eager to do almost anything but sell it out; Bud White, ready to break the law to get justice but not able to keep his boiling anger under check and Jack Vincennes, always looking for celebrity and a quick buck until his conscience drives him to join Exley and White down the one-way path to find the truth behind the dark world of Crime.
My review
The golden rule set by the classic detective movies also is followed this thriller to watch, L.A. Confidential.
Nearly two and a half hours to construct the story confidentially, but the watching time is passed remarkably fast.
In the entire film, there’s hardly a waste of time, and director Hanson keeps close track of every frame.
The last scenes were full of action, backstabbing and entertaining enough, with the three men befriending each other.

5. Mulholland Drive (2001)

The story is followed in ambiguous plot loops by two characters named Betty and Rita, but we’re not quite certain they’re different characters by the end of the film or, are they?
Rita wonders whether she’s Diane Selwyn, who’s a name from a name tag for the waitress.
My review
The movie is hypnotic; we are drawn as if one thing were another— but nothing leads to a break and re-combine as objects trapped within a kaleidoscope even before the characters are introduced.
“Mulholland Drive” is not like “Memento,” where you can expect to explain the mystery if you follow it carefully enough.
No clarification is available.
Perhaps there is no mystery. It might not be coincidental that BBC Culture’s poll of reviewers listed David Lynch’s mind-bending Mullholland Drive mystery as the best film of the century to date.

4. Taxi Driver (1976)

Travis Bickle is a longtime veteran of the navy who served in the Vietnam War, lives in New York.
As he is suffering from insomnia, he spends time as a taxi driver, watching porn during the day in seedy theaters, and talking about how the world especially New York, has degraded into a cesspool.
He is a singular person with strong beliefs about what is right and wrong with humanity.
The only highlight of society in New York is Betsy, a volunteer on Senator Charles Palantine’s presidential nomination campaign.
He meets a thirteen-year-old prostitute Iris and gets obsessed with her.
Following an incident with her, he feels he could do anything he feels, to improve the world around him.
One of his goals is to be the Savior of Iris, as he believes she wants to escape out of her career and kill her beloved pimp cum lover, Matthew.
My review
The five-minute epilog, steeped in tragedy, highlights the character’s complexities.
The media turns Travis into a hero when rescues the prostitute.
But he would have been abused as an assassin if he drew his gun a little more quickly on Senator Palantine.
As the movie ends, the misanthropist has been accepted as a model citizen— a person who takes pimps, drug dealers and mobsters to save a small girl.
Taxi Driver doesn’t have much doubt to be painted in an extremely disturbing picture–we appreciate Travis’s reasoning.
This is a skilled film made by Scorsese, moviemaker Michael Chapman and the actors.

3. Rear window (1954)

The story of a news photographer who thinks he has seen a murder.
Set in a wheelchair following an accident, he spends time watching the residents of nearby houses via a telephoto lens and binoculars to convince himself of the crime that has taken place.
My review
Hitchcock discusses the topic of voyeurism, explicitly in the rear window.
The script is carefully directed, and we can examine it a lot.
The idea is intriguing, but I have not felt my excitement throughout the story but felt curious.
It is one of the suspense thriller movies Hollywood ever made with a small specification but colorful and fascinating.
Hitchcock twists the knife in a humorous sequence that directly targets the viewer, not only by exposing a real crime but by threateningly staring at Jeff through the court.

2. The Prestige (2006)

In the London 1890s, Robert Angier and Alfred Borden were employed as the shills of a magician led by John Cutter.
After Julia died in a performance by mistake, Robert blames Alfred for his death and ultimately, they became rivals.
Soon, both become legendary competing magicians who try to destroy each other’s success on the stage.
If Alfred performs a good trick, Robert becomes obsessed with the attempt to expose the tragic consequences of his competitor’s secret.
My review
The Prestige is also an important movie in the collection of more serious dramas by Jackman.
Here, he and Bale are strikingly gratified, taking on dual roles that add to the cinema’s credibility–twins will actually promote in the segments of the stage similar to “The Transported Man.”

1. The Sixth Sense (1999)

Dr. Malcolm Crowe is played by Bruce Willis, a professional therapist.
In the night, a former patient breaks into his house and shoots Dr. Crowe and himself for his work.
Months later, Dr. Crowe still appears shocked. He thinks he can’t talk to his wife.
After recovery, he consults only one client, Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), who reminds him of his lost treatment.
Gradually Malcolm wins Cole’s trust, and he confides that he can see “dead people.”
Malcolm believes that this is a sign of profound psychological turmoil at first, but then he assumes that Cole actually sees the spirits of those who were killed and must find a way to make the moment less traumatic for him.
My review
This is one of the rare film delights, a genuinely chilling thinking person’s suspense.
You would be lucky if you see the movie which will make you wonder hours later and this movie perfectly does the work.
The final conclusion is shocking, but unavoidable in retrospect.

Over the years, Hollywood has produced many good suspense thriller movies.
A well-created suspense-packed film will change your life prospects.
Many thrillers choose to pull the safe world around you, flooding you with ideas you hadn’t seen.

Top 10 Netflix Series to Binge Watch in 2019

Top Netflix series

If you are looking for the Top 10 Netflix series interesting enough to binge-watch this weekend, you are in the right place.
It’s challenging to choose something good to watch, especially from live streaming services like Netflix while going through countless reviews on IMDb.
So, to make your life easier (and hopefully save your time),
I’ve created the list of best Netflix shows for you to choose from and not necessarily released in 2019, some shows in the list are released in 2018 while some in 2017.
My favorite is number 5! What’s yours?
Here are my favorite top 10 Netflix series 2019 list:

10. Maniac

Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim are one of many participants drawn into the later phases of a secret pharmaceutical experiment.
Every participant has a different purpose behind taking part in the test — she has depression and is aimless, but focused on broken relationships with her mom and sister.
While he has been suffering from schizophrenia for a long time.
At early stages, as an essential treatment, experimenters give subjects pills which, the inventor states that it can fix anything about the psyche.
It draws Annie, Owen, and 10 different subjects into a three-day drug trial test and they’re told that it will take care of most their issues, with no complications or symptoms.
Shockingly, things don’t go as arranged.
My review-
This one of the best drama Netflix series was rather exceptional in bringing on a funny 80s classy fantasy of retro-futurism.
Essentially, the atmosphere made the show.
Every one has been different. There were some special scenes, but some would gradually take you out of the show’s world.
Emma and Jonah performed well in the series. In her hallucinations, Emma easily moves through the different characters she plays.
Released in 2018, but still one of the best Netflix original series holding its position in 2019.

09.Stranger things

show manages to offer great nostalgic entertainment for people who grew up in the early to mid-1980s and love movies like E.T., Poltergeist, and other classics.

Joyce Byers, who lives in a tiny Indiana town in 1983, inspired by a period when tales of science fiction entertained audiences.
When Joyce’s 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches an investigation into his disappearance with local police authorities.
They discover a series of uncommon mysteries as they search for answers, involving secret government experiments, unsettling supernatural entities, and a strange little girl.
My review-
Stranger Things has tons of mystery with a blend of 90s nostalgia and horror-humor genre.
The direction of the plot and it’s playing out a clear and concise narrative with a lot of unanswered questions and then telling all of its pieces, giving us enough clues to make feel satisfied, but holding us back enough to keep the ball rolling.
Its third season is about to be released soon now released four years ago, but this TV series still holds the ninth position in our list.

08.Peaky Blinders

rich and convincing Netflix TV show of strangely high caliber. A lavish treat for grown-up watchers

England is a blend of sadness and pleasure in 1919 in the consequence of the First World War.
Returning soldiers, communists, and groups of hoodlums are battling for survival in a country shaken by financial trouble.
A standout amongst the most dominant gangs of the time is the Peaky Blinders, kept running by returning war legend Thomas Shelby and his family.
Thomas has greater goals than running the streets.
At the point when a case of firearms disappears,
He perceives a chance to progress in the world since wrongdoings may pay, however authentic business pays better.
Attempting to free Britain of its criminals is Inspector Chester Campbell, who lands from Belfast to accomplish that aim, and things go bad between two of them.
My review-
Personally, I think this show is best series to watch on Netflix, which was released in 2014 on BBC Two, but still holds the eighth spot in our best TV shows countdown.
Peaky Blinders’ very first scenes, let watchers know they’re in for a feast, as serious-faced Shelby marches through the dull avenues of mid-twentieth century Birmingham on a black horse.
A thought comes to mind,
Does he want to murder someone?
Is he looking for a rival or his love? Is he about to wreak havoc on what looks like a rough urban area?
Nope. He’s doing some superstitious activity, paying to have a spell cast on his horse so he’ll win the horse-race tomorrow.
Does our protagonist Shelby really believe this spell will make his horse a winner? Nah. He just wants to attract more betting customers towards his horse.
Peaky Blinders is loaded with scenes like this, which zigs when you expect something and take the drama to a sudden new way.

07.When they see us

strikes the right chord, portraying the relentlessness of a Not-so-Perfect justice system

When They See Us is a TV Netflix drama series of how police capture five young men, indicted they arrest them and for raping and,
nearly pounding the life out of Trisha Meili–“the Central Park jogger”–a young white lady Cops discover her ambushed body that same night these people are busted.
All the underlying signs point to a single attacker having dragged her away from the way into the bushes & there is little evidence against those people.
Yet, when the leader of the DA’s sex wrongdoings unit, Linda Fairstein, hears that they have captured some people somewhere else in the park, a new narrative began to frame.
Police names their night as frenzy, the young men as creatures moving in a pack, hellbent on killing people.
Similarly, as with the early foundation of the young men’s ordinariness, Fairstein and her team are never expressly marked as a racist.
Their preference is basically implanted in each supposition, an inferred understanding among all the white grown-ups that the young men are the undeniable suspects, that they must have done it.
Fairstein inhales convictions like air and show rotates around it.
My review-
With When They See Us, Director is telling an important story, bringing one of New York City’s most infamous cases of wrongful conviction to life.
The four-episode series of DuVernay is a darkly-filmed story that sometimes feels like a drama in the courtroom and alternates expertly between tense, moving and sometimes lighter-hearted moments.

06.The Umbrella Academy

The story many mysteries and conflict made it highly engaging, with many unexpected turns

On one day in 1989, 43 newborn children were mysteriously born at random, to unconnected ladies who hinted at no signs of pregnancy before.
Seven of them are in the foster home of billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreaves, who makes the Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world.
During their adolescent years, however, the family breaks and the group scatters.
Quick forward to the present, when the six living individuals from the team rejoin upon the news of Hargreaves’ passing.
They cooperate to tackle a puzzle encompassing their dad’s mysterious death.
But their different personalities and abilities again pull the already estranged family apart, and a global apocalypse is another imminent threat.
The series, based on the collection of comic books made and written by My Chemical Romance lead artist Gerard Way.
My review-
The Umbrella Academy holds the sixth position in our Top 10 Netflix series for a specific reason and that in one word is “Twist”
As someone who likes superhero films, but doesn’t read the comics, this show was (almost) all I hoped for.
Yes, it’s predictable, and yes, it’s comparable to a lot of other superhero TV series playing out there.
However, I will say two twists took me by full surprise for every twist I predicted. It’s been an action-packed, wacky, funny, and mysterious, and, just straight-up weird Netflix show.
Still, I was eagerly awaiting the next episode for answers to the curious questions that after each new episode seemed to pile up.

05.The Haunting of Hill House

A good dash of traditional horror & mystery

Dr. James Montague is studying paranormal aspects scientifically. His latest project is researching the bleak Hill House — whose residents have encountered morbid and often untimely deaths over the 80 years since it was built.
He intends to collect individuals who have had psychic experiences for his research;
Two people agree, a young girl who has been taking care of her invalid mom over the past several years, and Theodora, a lively artist.
Luke, the son of Hill House’s present owner, accompanies Dr. Montague and an eccentric and elderly couple — a Mr. and Mrs. Dudley — who serve the house as caretakers.
The group initially has a good enough time for themselves with the food, huge house, and its surrounding woods. But things go catastrophically wrong quickly.
My review-
The only horror genre in our top 10 Netflix TV series list worth mentioning.
It requires only one hour, potentially two, to ping pong between dual timelines — flashback mode and present time — to get a sense of what’s really going on here.
Speaking of horror, viewers should come for the jump scares and varying bits of creepiness.
Insects crawling out of mouth corpses drastically rising from slabs, spirits ranging from fairly young stuff to ancient crones rotted, suddenly gaping mouths and melting faces — all present and accounted for.

04.Sex Education

light-hearted comedy if you love movies like american pie

Socially awkward high school student Otis may not have much knowledge in the lovemaking department.
But he gets good guidance on the topic in his personal sex-ed course living with mom Jean, who is a sex therapist.
Being surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis becomes an unwilling expert on the subject.
When his classmates learn about his home life, Otis uses his insider knowledge to improve his status at school.
So he teams up with whip-smart bad girl Maeve Wiley to set up a clinic for underground sex therapy to figure out how to deal with the issues of their classmates.
But through his teenage sexuality research, Otis understands he might need some of his treatment.
My review-
I had one big problem with sex education: director did not display a British secondary school as it was supposed to be in sex education.
It feels more like an American high school, but the plot is set to be in Britain.
Nevertheless, The mixture of sexual humor and the friendliness of the show reflects the tradition of likewise mixed teen comedies from American Pie to Netflix’s Big Mouth.
Unlike by your expectations, this show is focused foremost, on relationships between parents and children, best friends, older and younger generations, and young individuals who fall in love and out of love.
Overall, good and lighthearted original drama series if you love teen comedy

03.Russian Doll

twisted it into something darker, and at least makes you think that's what you are watching.

A young lady named Nadia is on a visit to be a guest at a party.
But she is caught in a strange time loop because she repeatedly attends the same event and dies every time at night — only to wake up uninjured the next day as if nothing had happened.
Nadia attempts to find out what’s going on with her and discovers,
Then she discovers that she has to appreciate her own life enough to want to save someone else’s, and Alan (who is also stuck in the loop with her) has to do the same.
Together they are repeating her birthday party and their death after-party in a time-loop, in an endless repeat of the same day.
Both at first refuse to accept their new reality: Her friends & family beg her to be acknowledged, but she doesn’t do it, she does whatever she wants.
As she tries to find a way out of this strange time loop, the situation loop becomes more complicated.
My review-
Russian Doll may be the best thing that Netflix has ever made,
It skillfully tackles some heavy subjects with a proper blend of shades in humor & emotions.
While watching this web series you’ll likely go from stomach aching laughter to tears of very relatable heartbreak in every episode.
You could attempt to kick back and appreciate the zippy jokes and the agonizingly hip soundtrack.
Regarding my opinion, Russian Doll is the best Netflix original series 2019.

If you are interested in behaviour, psychology and how the criminal mind thinks then I highly recommend watching this

FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) travel around the U.S. to interview and monitor serial killers.
They are eventually joined by Wendy Carr (Anna Torv), a Boston University psychology teacher who helps them create a system to categorize the murderers and probably predict future behaviors.
Interviewing criminals who are known serial killers by the investigators to know how they think and profile them in such a manner that they will describe a serial killer in the future.
This is their primary goal and they go about teaching about these serial killers to the others in the nation.
Both of them begin to profile them by speaking to them in the prisons in which they are being kept.
My review-
The show gradually evolves and develops for you, and by exploring the psychology they have also beautifully shown how the Quantico agents coin the word “serial killers” for the very first time.
It’s worth watching, Mindhunter is one of the most artistic, meaningful series on Netflix.
It has none of the cheap, dull quality of the many characteristics of the streaming service, nor does it deal with the traveling, wheel-spinning storytelling of some famous names that are more appropriate as premises than real shows.
It works well as an intense, intellectual crime procedural and it do have all qualities to be on the top spot of this Top 10 list but there is an another show to hold the title for best Netflix Original series.

01.Better Call Saul

Breaking Bad-Walter White & Jesse+New Characters+Humor=Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul pursues the life of the character Saul Goodman starting around six years before the events of Breaking Bad
In 2002, Goodman, known as James McGill, is an ex-conman attempting to pursue a genuine profession as a hopeful legal counselor in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He tries to turn into a partner in the law office in which his more established brother Chuck McGill is a senior accomplice.
Jimmy’s (Saul’s) work is as often as possible dominated by his past reputation of a con man, and he battles to figure out how to substantiate himself,
Even with the help of another co-worker in the firm, Kim Wexler, with whom he additionally turns out to be romantically involved.
In the meantime, Jimmy every now and again deals with Chuck, who professes to have a skin disease,
A condition that makes him physically sick within the sight of anything with an electrical segment and has made him take an all-inclusive leave from his firm and customary law work.
Mixed within Saul’s activities are the earlier chronicles of other Breaking Bad characters, including
Mike Ehrmantraut, an ex-cop who winds up associated with illicit drugs dealing plans,
and drug lords like Hector Salamanca and Gus Fring, who distribute drugs illegally brought to the territory from Mexico.
My review-
This choice on the no.1 spot in our top 10 Netflix series list was easy for me and I find it very hard exactly what to say about this another Vince Gilligan’s masterpiece
If you are a fan of super-hit
Breaking Bad, you surely should not miss Better Call Saul.
It follows the same style of storytelling, despite being a spin-off, it stands out with a unique story-line which provides the origin stories of all the people that orbited Walter White.

Some honorable mentions,

If you liked the above list which I provided after watching each and every episode of them just to ease your selection,
